Aloe Vera for Face Skin Care

"Yup, this is my face now," I tell myself seeing my dry skin as I look into the mirror. But it doesn't have to be. As I went back to my bedroom, I saw the tub of aloe vera gel staring at me. I remembered testing it out on my skin before to see just how "soothing" it was. "Sure, why not?" I say as I slather the gel and massage it to my face.

I have been doing this as my before-bedtime routine for around five days now and so far, I've been surprised with the results. After taking a shower and patting my face dry, I apply two fingers-worth of the aloe vera gel onto my face, massage it a bit, and let it dry in front of my fan. Immediately, the "soothing" effect hits you, bringing a cool feeling to the skin. While that lasts only temporarily, what does last is your skin feeling hydrated.

The next day, when I wake up, I noticed how my face feels a lot more supple, with a good sheen to it, compared to being just dull, and sadly, flaky in some patches of the skin. I don't really see any flaking skin anymore. Upon washing my face and again, patting it dry, the skin feels moisturized and dare I say... youthful?

In retrospect, however, maybe I should've researched about aloe vera for face skin care first before applying it all over. Doing a bit more digging, I was happy to see at least that aloe vera does have a number of benefits for one's skin.

According to studies, products containing aloe vera is good for soothing sun burns or minor burns. And because it contains anti-inflammatory effects, it also helps relieve acne (and thankfully, during the period that I have been applying the product, I have not noticed any new acne breakouts - a coincidence?). Finally, it helps moisturize dry skin - something I can vouch for as I have really felt a difference on my face, seeing as it has more of a glow to it.

Ultimately, since these aloe vera soothing gel products are very affordable, I think I will keep this in my nightly routine (not that I ever did have a nightly skin care routine to begin with, which is probably the reason I had dry skin). It is important to note, however, to test these products out first on your skin as there is a real possibility of being allergic to aloe vera.
